Falling demand, driven by the weak economy and reduced government subsidies in some European countries, has resulted in high inventory levels and distributors willing to slash prices to keep sales volumes up. This supply-demand imbalance is predicted to last at least two more years. Lower cost international suppliers, mainly from China, are also driving prices down. Both the U.S. Government and many states are offering up to a 30% rebate, giving small residential buyers the opportunity to buy a system at up to 50% below what it would have cost last year at this time.
