United Airlines Getting $25 Million from the City to Move into Willis Tower

Daily Real Estate Updates

sudler-sothebys-logo5 August 2009 ? The city of Chicago is helping the Sears Willis Tower on its comeback to the tune of  about $25 million. That’s the total in incentives the city is planning to give United Airlines to pay for moving costs and building-out expenses on roughly 450,000 square feet of space United will lease in Big Willie. United plans to move its administrative and operations staff to the Loop location. The city is saying that this will add more new jobs downtown than the combined moves of Boeing, UAL Corp (United’s parent company), and MillerCoors. The city’s hope is that this will bring more white collar workers to live in the city, pay taxes, parking fees and fines, property taxes, etc.
