The markets opened up just a bit higher Thursday morning, with the Dow just above 8300. GM and Chrysler announced plans to lay off thousands, and close thousands of dealerships across the country. The Obama administration says it wants to pass health care reform by the end of the year, helping millions without insurance. And the Chicago Blackhawks have advanced to the next round of the playoffs, their best showing in years. They will play the winner of the Anaheim-Detroit series, determined tonight.
